SOLUTION

Revamp the UI to better refect the current UI trends

Designed an onboarding that benchmarks the user's interests and helps users find events effortlessly

Introduced the feature of User retainment by gamifying the app with referral points

Before transitioning the Web application to Mobile app, I studied the User Research (Competitive Analysis, User Persona) Site Map, Wireframes, UI and branding provided by Petra, lead Product Designer. Lionel, product manager had the idea to create Localeyez mobile app to have onboarding flow and machine learning feature similar to apps like Airbnb experience classpass, meetup and foursquare. After studying the materials provided I created onboarding flow for the mobile app and a new User Flow, made necessary changes to Site Map, created new set of wireframes for the Mobile app and created a new branding to match the current trends. Here is the glimpse of the competitive research provided by the team.

FourSquare

Foursquare is a location technology company that consists of two apps, Foursquare and Swarm. Their B2B offerings include Places (for developers), Pinpoint and Attribution (for marketers), and Place Insights (for analysts, based on the world's largest foot traffic panel).

Airbnb Experiences

This is Airbnb's initiative to build connections between its visiting customers and locals. Users can choose categories, hosts, and locations to find something that interests them. Categories for experiences include animals, cooking, adventures, and more. Choosing a host allows users to select an experience by clicking on an image of a person and a description of the activity, such as "mole cooking class with an Indigenous cook." And users can search for locations to stay in either locally or around the world.

Site Map and Wireframes from Localeyez Web Application

The following desktop site map was provided to use as a guide for the mobile version. During the transitioning phase, I made some changes to this site map to better suit the User experience.

The main challenge was to create the events page, which makes the user feel it is customized per their needs and likings and yet let them explore something new. My second challenge was to create an onboarding process that would be key to Machine learning and gives every user a unique spread of events.

Mood Board, Branding and Style Tile

Based on LocalEyez's current mood board provided to me, I created a new mood board to reflect fun outdoors, freedom, joy, warmth, enjoyment, stimulation, and happiness. I decided to stick with Blues and Browns to top match with the current color palate and introduced an orange color to give an uplift to the color palette and also to bring warmth, creativity, and spontaneity.

Also, created a new logo for the branding. After iterating for a few logo options I decided to create an onboarding logo animation telling the potential of the LocalEyez app leading to the final logo.

Next Steps

  • I still see lots of opportunities in fine-tuning the visual Design. Would like to iterate and come up with a better solution to display all the features in a more intuitive and user-friendly way and also work around negative space on that screen.

  • Heuristic Evaluation

  • Usability Testing
